Experience Claes Bang – the star from this year’s Palme d’Or winner The Square – in the critically acclaimed Evil
Evil is a monologue based on Jan Guillou’s personal and shocking story about the horrible abuse he was exposed to as a child and a young man. The play focuses on the anatomy of evil. Do you become evil by being treated evil? And, can you defy daily punishment and humiliation and still maintain goodness?
The book was released in 1981, and later dramatized and then filmed. It is based on Jan Guillou’s experience as a victim to his father’s violence and the brutal comrade upbringing at a boarding school i Sweden.
Claes Bang – who had a breakthrough role in the The Square, this year’s Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival – has been playing Evil in Danish for about 10 years and has now made an English version. We are delighted to present this version and to give the growing international community in the Esbjerg region a chance to experience top-class theatre.
